The northern side of Madagascar is remote, tropical, peaceful, and mostly untamed. You can hear about celeb guests like Leonardo DiCaprio in these areas. We went to this remote hotel to recharge after a safari trek through Kenya and Tanzania.
You fly into a very small runway with the smallest “airport” I’ve ever seen. Greeted by a french man in a dress-like robe holding a tray of cold water and fresh drinks, we were ushered off to the resort sitting in the back of a modified pickup truck.

This place declared it’s own time zone, and insisted we follow it by stating times that were always in “anjajavy time” which was basically one hour later lol. It’s an exceptionally beautiful juxtaposition of wild rain forest and opulent glamping. It’s very popular with French tourists, so they carry a good deal of french-inspired cuisine and engineering in the cabins.
